what is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a safe and effective way of exfoliating the skin mechanically whilst stimulating cellular activity in the lower layers of the skin.
how does Microdermabrasion work?
The machine produces a jet of fine inert crystals(aluminium oxide),that are propelled across the skin’s surface through a sealed length of tubing.
At the same time an applied vacuum draws away the exfoliated debris and stimulates the surface and underlying tissues.
how is Microdermabrasion performed?
The skin is cleansed and then prepared for treatment ensuring that it is dry.
The vacuum pressure and crystal flow for the treatment is selected according to the client’s needs, skin type and stage in treatment. The glass head is then passed over the contours of the area being treated.
does it hurt?
There is no pain associated with the treatment, in fact it is actually a very pleasing treatment to experience.
how long does the treatment take?
This will depend on the extent of the area being treated. A full face would take approximately half an hour.
how many treatments will be required?
To achieve optimum results it is recommended that a course of treatments be taken. Each client will be recommended suitable courses for their individual requirements. For example a course for skin rejuvenation would consist of 6 treatments taken 1 every 3 weeks.
when will I see results?
You will notice after your first treatment that you will have a glowing, smooth, even and bright complexion. Long term results will be noticed over the following weeks / months following a course of treatments.
what skin reactions can be expected?
Most individuals experience little, if no effects and can resume their normal routines immediately. Others may experience a ‘glow’ or mild redness which may last between 30 minutes up to a few hours. For the more aggressive treatment sessions you may experience mild reddening accompanied bya mild sensation resembling over exposure to the sun. This has usually subsided within a day or two.
how is IPL performed?
The individuals hair and skin type are assessed to ensure safe and effective parameters for treatment are selected. The area is then shaved,if necessary, and a layer of gel applied for optimum transmission and to aid cooling of the skin maybe applied. The IPL systems applicator head is then positioned on the skin and moved after each flash until the whole area has been treated.
